Gulben Calis received her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. She continued her studies at the Department of Civil Engineering at Ege University, Turkey, where she obtained her M.S. and Ph.D. in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Her doctoral thesis introduced a novel-based approach to determine site layouts by using Ant Colony Optimization. Prior to joining Ege University at 2005, she was a partner of a construction firm. Dr. Calis received a post-doctoral research scholarship through Turkish Higher Education Council and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at USC.
Gulben Calis has a devotion to bridging her professional experience and academic research in the interest of supporting sustainability and improved occupancy satisfaction in buildings.
